Allan Cundick, a retired schoolteacher, was a leading member of the Ash Vale
Brethren assembly, Surrey, and an author of several theological books.
The
damage done to victims of abuse is often far more than physical. Distress was increased
by another leader among the Brethren who sought to discourage a victim from
reporting Cundick’s abuse. He is Ian Jackson of Marine Hall, Eastbourne.
I commented
on Jackson’s attempts to thwart the course of justice in my blog,
Waymarks.blogspot.com which brought me a visit from his buddy, John Scarsbrook.
Scarsbrook
is Secretary of the magazine Precious Seed. He came from Killamarsh to Luton to
warn me that if I did not remove my blog from the internet, then Jackson might
sue me for libel. I advised him I was merely commenting on news already on the
public domain.
I asked
Scarsbrook three times what would happen if similar complaints of abuse were
made in his assembly. He told me such would be dealt with by the relevant
authority. That is, himself.
We think
there are many young women yet to come
forward who have been abused by their church elders and bible teachers.
We make
this public in order that it can be prevented in the future.
I know A
Cundick personally. We were at school together and in fellowship together in
the same assembly in Luton, from 1947 to 1970
